DEATH CLAIMS OLD REMSEN RESIDENT. Mrs. Henry Engelbrecht Dies in Le Mars Hospital At Age of 73.
Mrs. Henry Engelbrecht, pioneer resident of Remsen, died in the Sacred Heart hospital this morning at the age of 73 years. She had been sick for a long time.
Deceased was a native of Germany and was married 51 years ago to Henry Engelbrecht and came to Remsen many yaers ago. They made their home in the the town of Remsen for the last 21 years.
Mrs. Engelbrecht is survived by her husband, a daughter and three sons, George and Walter Engelbrecht of Hartley, Iowa, and Frank and Mrs. Leonard Wevik of Remsen. – Le Mars Globe Post, July 24, 1941, page 8.

Joint Funeral Rites Held At Remsen Sunday. Husband Follows Wife to Grave Within a Day.
Mrs. Henry Engelbrecht, 73, of Remsen, died at the Sacred Heart hospital, July 24, after a long illness.
She is survived by her husband, Henry Engelbrecht, three sons and a daughter, George and Walter Engelbrecht of Hartley, Frank Engelbrecht and Mrs. Leonard Wevik of Remsen. A daughter, Mrs. Hans Borm, died last August.
She was a native of Germany and was married here firty-one years ago and she and her husband came to Remsen shortly after their marriage.
While funeral arrangements were nearing completion her husband, Henry Englebrecht, passed away the following day.
Funeral services were held for the couple at the Lutheran church in Remsen Sunday afternoon and were largely attended. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, July 29, 1941.

Celebrate Their Golden Wedding February 28. Remsen Pair Wedded Fifty Years Ago At Orange City.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Engelbrecht celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Wednesday at their home in Remsen for members of the family.
Mr. Engelbrecht was born in Brunsbuttel, Holstein, Germany, and came to the Untied States in 1883, settling in Keystone, Iowa. Mrs. Engelbrect, whose maiden name was Margaretha Hagge, was born in Holstein, Germany, in 1867, and came to this country in 1885, settling near Remsen. They were married in 1890 in Orange City and moved to Sioux Center where Mr. Engelbrecht did carpenter work. Later they moved to Remsen where he followed the carpenter trade for a few years and then began farming northeast of Remsen.
In 1920 Mr. and MRs. Engelbrecht left the farm and moved to town. Both are in fair health. They are the parents of five children, George and Walter, of Hartley, and Frank, and Mrs. Hans Borm and Mrs. Leonard Wevik, all of Remsen.
