Hans Ehmsen, an old citizen of Henry township, died on Wednesday.

The death of Henry Ehmsen occurred at his home in Henry township on Thursday morning. The funeral took place at Remsen on Saturday at the Lutheran Evangelical church.
Mr. Ehmsen had been ill for some time and his death was not unexpected. He was 64 years of age. He was an old settler of this county and highly thought of by a large number of friends and acquaintances. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, October 8, 1900, page 4.

Note: In the Le Mars Post Annual Directory of Plymouth County, Iowa from 1897, Hans Ehmsen owns his own farm in Henry Township in the NW quarter of section 10. His post office address is Remsen. His wife’s name was Doris (Dora) Sievers Ehmsen.
