Funeral Services Held At Remsen For Mrs. David Cook.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at St. Paul’s Evangelical church in Remsen for Mrs. David Cook, who died Friday, August 21, at Iowa City. Rev. Paul Wuebben officiated. The pall bearers were Allison Harnack, Dr. F. A. Mylan, Albert Schmitz, Sylvester Fideler, Walter Lang and Frank Bohnenkamp.
Ethel Strub was born on a farm southeast of Remsen. Later she moved with her parents to Remsen where she attended the public school, graduating with the class of 1912. She attended college in Le Mars and for seven years, until her marriage in 1919, taught school near Remsen.
On September 30, 1919, she married David J. Cook. Mr. and Mrs. Cook made their home in Remsen until 1936 when they moved to Iowa City. Mrs. Cook was a member of the East Lucas club of Iowa City and the American Legion Auxiliary of Remsen.
Besides her husband, David Cook Sr., a member of the U.S. Guard, Rock Island district, Mrs. Cook is survived by a daughter, June, of Iowa City, and a son, David, who recently enlisted in the navy, and is stationed at San Diego. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Sept. 1, 1942, page 1.
