REMSEN WOMAN PASSES AWAY. Dies Suddenly at Home of Daughter in Estherville
Remsen, Ia., April 11.- Relatives and friends were shocked and grieved late Tuesday when the news was received in Remsen that Mrs. Louisa Sievers, a prominent resident here for many years and the mother of W. G. Sieves and F.A. Sieves had passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.C. Post, in Estherville.
Mrs. Sievers died at 7 o’clock Tuesday evening, following a paralytic stroke which she suffered last Sunday.
She had enjoyed good health up to Sunday, and was taken ill that evening. The relatives here wer notified early Monday morning and again in the afternoon when her condition grew worse. Mr. and Mrs. F.A. Sievers and W.G. Sievers hastened to her beside and remained there to accompany the body to Remsen for burial.
No definite funeral arrangements have been made, pending word from a daughter, Miss Helen Sievers, and a son, Dr. George Sieves, who resides in California. However, the body is expected her some time Friday. – Le Mars Globe-Post, April 14, 1924, page 9.

PIONEER WOMAN DIES. Mrs. Louisa Sievers Was Old Resident of Remsen.
Mrs. Louisa Sievers, formerly of Remsen, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Post, at Estherville, Iowa, following a paralytic stroke. Mrs. Sievers was stricken Sunday and died Tuesday. She was 79 years old.
Mrs. Sievers was a pioneer of Plymouth county, having moved to Remsen 40 years ago. There she lived until six years ago, and reared her family, of whom the following survive here: Miss Lena Sievers, Rock Rapids, Iowa; Mrs. John Post, Estherville, Iowa; George Sievers, California, Frank and William Sievers, Remsen.
The body was shipped to Remsen and the funeral held Friday at the Christ Lutheran church. The services were in charge of Rev. A. Noack.
Mrs. Sievers was widely known in the eastern end of Plymouth county, and the news of her sudden death came as a shock to her many friends. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, April 15, 1924, page 1.
