Mrs. Clara B. Mieras, who resided most of her life in LeMars, passed away at a Santa Monica, California, hospital on January 17, 1958, following a sickness lasting several weeks. She was 69 years of age.
Clara B. Duus was born September 21, 1889, in LeMars. She was the daughter of the late Andrew M. Duus and Grace Wynia Duus, longtime LeMars realtors. After her parents death, Mrs. Mieras operated the A. M. Duus Insurance and Real Estate Agency for many years in LeMars. She was a prominent insurance and real estate dealer and a noted antiquarian.
She was united in marriage with Marion Mieras in LeMars in 1912 and lived in LeMars and vicinity most of her life and went to California in 1956 after selling her insurance business to Joel Shepherd.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 22, 1958, at the Mauer Funeral Home here at 2:00 p.m. Rev. James Ransom will officiate and burial will be in the LeMars City cemetery.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Marion D. Mieras, of Whittier, California, and a daughter, Mrs. (Dorothy) Morton Stone, of Oyster Bay, New York. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Grace VanNimwigen, of Venice, California, and Mrs. R. D. (Esther) Sherman of LeMars.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, who passed away in 1918. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Eastern Star, and the Plymouth County Realtors Association.
