Hans Oltzen died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E. Burdoff [Burdorf] Wednesday night, August 19, age 72 years. Mr. Oltzen has been ill for several months and his death was daily expected. He leaves a son Chris Oltzen of Paullina and a daughter, Mrs. Hans Nissen, of this city to mourn his loss. The funeral occurred on Saturday, Rev. Note: Hans is buried in the Remsen City Cemetery. The spelling of the surname on the gravestone is “Ottzen”. He was born August 1, 1824 and died August 18, 1897 according to the gravestone.
