Otto Fred Heien, 87, Le Mars, Plymouth County native and longtime resident, died Jan. 6,1984, at Floyd Valley Hospital after an illness of five days. Funeral will be at 1: 30 p. m. Monday at St. John's American Lutheran Church, Le Mars, with Rev. Tom Lee officiating. Burial will be in Le Mars Memorial Cemetery under direction of the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 7 p. m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Heien was born Jan. 28, 1896, in Grant Township to Ricklefs and Antje Oltmann Heien. He farmed for 12 years in Sioux County. He married Louise Baack Jan. 21, 1920, in Sioux County. After their marriage they farmed in the Craig area moving to the Le Mars area in 1936, retiring to Le Mars in 1954. Mr. Heien was a retired farmer and a member of St. John's American Lutheran Church. He was a veteran of World War I.

Survivors are three sons, Elmer, Lyle and Kenneth Heien all of Le Mars, and two daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Irene) Brunken and Elsie Zenk, both of Le Mars; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Annie Stulken, Rapid City, and Kate Schoen, Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise, Feb. 22, 1971; his parents; a grandchild; a sister and a brother.
