CHARLES KOS
Charles Kos, 87, who lived in LeMars and the area for the last 40 years, died Sunday (Sept. 5, 1976) at Floyd Valley hospital in LeMars after an illness of several months. He had been hospitalized the last six weeks.
Mr. Kos was born April 24, 1889, in Washington county to Frank and Elizabeth Beecha Kos. His marriage to Mamie Orr took place Oct. 27, 1914, in Washington. She preceded him in death in December 1974.
He lived in Washington as a young man and moved to Claremont, Minn., and then to LeMars. He was a retired farmer.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. John American Lutheran Church with Rev. William Striepe officiating. Burial will be in LeMars Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Mauer Funeral Home in LeMars.
Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Della Scranton, Ottumwa, and Mrs. Anna Pritts, Meriden, and several nieces and nephews.
He was a member of St. John’s church. Mr. Kos was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
