Life’s End. MRS. BENJEGERDES DIES AT HOSPITAL – RITES IN REMSEN.
Mrs. Ernest Benjegerdes, 72, 129 6th Ave. SE, died Monday at Sacred Heart hospital after a one day illness. She had been hospitalized July 18 for surgery.
Funeral services are tentatively set the latter part of this week at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran church, Remsen. Rev. Paul Wuebben will officiate. Burial will be in the Remsen city cemetery under the direction of the Moeller funeral home, Remsen.
Celia Margaretha Wagner was born Nov. 27, 1887 in Union township, the daughter of Peter G. and Eva Marie Rubie Wagner. The family moved to Fredonia township in 1890.
Her marriage to Ernest Frederick Benjegerdes took place Nov. 25, 1925, at St. John Evangelical and Reformed church here. The couple farmed in Fredonia township from 1926 until 1936, when they retired and moved to Le Mars. She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran church in Remsen.
Surviving are her husband, Ernest, of Le Mars; one brother, George Wagner of Seattle, Wash.; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ethel Wagner of Le Mars, and two nephews Donald and Dale Wagner.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Edward, who died in 1943. – Le Mars Daily Sentinel, July 26, 1960, page 7.
