Mrs. Peter Raveling died at her home in Meadow township on Friday, February 17, after a short illness. The deceased was a native of Germany and aged a few months over 30 years. Thirteen years ago she emigrated to America and was united in marriage to her husband, Peter Raveling, at Le Mars. She was a woman dearly beloved ay all who knew her and by strict devotion to her family proved herself to be an exemplary wife and mother. Besides her husband she leaves seven children, the youngest being an infant. The only relative in this country of the deceased is a sister, Mrs. Jacob Raveling, of Clayton county, Iowa, who, with her husband, were in attendance at the funeral.
The funeral occurred Monday morning at 10 o’clock, the service being held at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran church, of Remsen, Rev. Hoeppner officiating. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Feb 24, 1899, page 3.
