After a period of declining health of about three months, Peter Petersen died at the home of his son-in-law Erick Scott, last Saturday shortly before noon, at the age of 87 years. Primarily his death was due to failure caused by age, but his departure was hastened considerably by a fall from a chair a few weeks ago in which he sustained internal injuries. Peter Petersen was born on the third day of July, 1825 at North Schleswig, Holstein, Germany and came to the United States in January 1888. Mr. Petersen’s first wife was taken from him by death before this, and he spent the first few months here with his son, Truels, on a farm south of Remsen. In March of that year he went to live with his son-in-law Erick Scott, northwest of town, and in the following years was united in marriage to Mrs. Ingeborg Scott. He then bought a farm south of here on which they lived until Mrs. Petersen died in 1891. The widower went to Albert Lea, Minn., to again make his home with the Scott family and has lived with them ever since. ….
