Rudoph Zangger died very suddenly yesterday morning at the home of his son, G. Zanger, near Larchwood. Rudolph Zangger was born in Switzerland, April 26, 1839, and died October 18, 1811 [1911], age 72 years, 5 months and 22 days. He was married in Switzerland in 1861 and came to this country in 1871, locating on a farm near Waukesha, Wis. From there he moved to Elgin, Iowa, and later came to Plymouth county, where he resided until the death of his wife in 1891. Since then he has made his home with his children, for the past five years with the G. Zangger family. He was the father of five children, four of whom are living, one having receded him to the grave. The four who are living are, Mrs. Rothenbuehler, Granville, Iowa; Rudolph Zangger, Marcus; Mrs. Dan Habeger, Madison, South Dakota, and G. Zangger, Larchwood. He also had twenty-four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, October 31, 1911, page 2.
