DEATH CLAIMS OLD RESIDENT. MRS TANGEMAN FOUND DEAD IN HER HOME WHEN RELATIVES CALL SUNDAY.
Mrs. Anna Maria Tangeman, living at 514 Fifth Avenue SE, a resident of this county for the past twenty-five years, was found dead in bed at her home Sunday morning when relatives called in as they did daily to pass the time of day and inquire after her well being.
Her son, George Tangeman, who lives two blocks away, was conversing with his mother the previous evening and left about 10 o’clock when Mrs. Tangeman was in her usual health and spirits.
Mrs. Tangeman was 83 years old. She was born May 29, 1848, in Belleville, Ill., where she was reared. Her maiden name was Anna Maria Hedemann. She was united in marriage with George Tangeman December 4, 1864. They engaged in farming and came to Iowa and lived at Luzerne and Garnavillo before coming to Plymouth county where they settled near Remsen in 1906.
Later they came to Le Mars to make their home. Mr. Tangeman died in 1917. Four sons and a daughter preceded their mother in death. She is survived by two sons, Fred Tangeman of Sibley, and George Tangeman, of Le Mars. She also leaves two brothers, Fred Hedemann, of Guttenberg, Iowa and Charles Hedemann of Garnavillo.
The funeral services will be held this afternoon from the residence with services at St. John’s Evangelical church at 2:30, Rev. P.V. Dyn, the pastor, officiating. Six of her grandsons will act as pallbearers.
The interment will be made in the city cemetery at Remsen where her husband and other relatives lie buried. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Sept. 15, 1931, page 3.

DIES SUDDENLY OF A BLOOD CLOT. Mrs. Anna Marie Tangeman, Found Dead in Bed Sunday Morning.
Mrs. Anna Marie Tangeman, residing at 515 5th Ave. S.E. was found dead in her bed Sunday morning at 9:30 by neighbors, who had come in to see her. Death was caused by a blood clot and came very suddenly as the deceased was enjoying good health, the preceding day. Her son, George Tangeman, had spent the evening with his mother, leaving at 10 o’clock and death followed probably an hour later.
Anna Maria Hedeman daughter of D. Hedeman, was born at Belleville, Ill., May 29, 1849 and at the time of her death was 83 years 3 months and 14 days of age. At the age of 6, she moved to Garnavillo, Iowa, where she lived until her marriage to Geo Tangeman, on Dec. 4, 1864 when they moved to Luzerne Iowa. In 1882 they moved to a farm near Remsen, and in Feb. 1906 to Le Mars. Her husband died Jan. 31, 1917, and since that time she has been residing alone at her home.
She leaves to mourn her loss two sons, Fred of Sibley and Geo. Jr. of Le Mars. Two brothers Fred Hedeman of Guttenberg and Charles of Garnavillo, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren: four sons, a husband and a daughter preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the home at 515 5th Ave. S.E. and at 2:30 p.m. from the St. John’s Evangelical church with Rev. Paul Van Dyke reading the service, and burial will be made in the Remsen cemetery with Luken’s undertaking in charge of the interment. Six grandson will act as pallbearers.
Many friends and neighbors miss the presence of Mrs. Tangeman, who has always been a favorite among her friends. They join with the family in sorrow in her death. – Le Mars Globe-Post, Sept. 14, 1931, page 1.

Large Number of Neighbors and Friends Pay Tribute To Old Settler
The funeral of Mrs. Anna Marie Tangeman, pioneer of Plymouth county, held Tuesday at St. John's Evangelical church w a s attended by a large number of friends and relatives. The interment was made in Remsen. The pallbearers, six grandsons, were: Arthur [Tangeman], Oscar [Tangeman], Vernon [Tangeman], Ervln , Oren [Tangeman] and Milton Tangeman.
