Mrs. Wm. Hansen Died Last Week At Her Home in Le Mars
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon of last week for Mrs. William Hansen, 60, former Remsen woman, who passed away at her home in Le Mars, Sunday, Jan. 2.
Mrs. Hansen, resident in Le Mars the last five years, had been in failing health for more than a year. The end came at 6:30 o’clock Sunday morning.
Born September 29, 1888, on a farm south of Remsen, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Claus Borm, well known members of that community.
Margaret Borm was united in marriage in Christ Lutheran church in Remsen on December 21, 1911, to William Hansen.
The ceremony was performed by the then pastor, the Rev. Ernst Starek. The couple settled on a farm northeast of town and prospered. They retired in October 1943, establishing a home in Le Mars where they had lived since.
Preceding Mrs. Hansen in death were her parents. Mrs. Borm died in 1920, Mr. Borm in 1929. The deceased lady’s twin brother, John, passed away in 1932.
Surviving are the widower; two daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Viola) Feller and Mrs. Erwin (Ethel) Ruba; her brother, Hans, of Remsen and three sisters, Miss Anna Borm of Remsen, Mrs. Christina Mandelkow of Bridgewater, S.D., and Mrs. Herman (Emma) Erichsen of Remsen.
Services were conducted by the Rev. A. Noack in the funeral home at 1:30 o’clock, later in Christ Lutheran church, and were largely attended. Burial was made in the Remsen cemetery. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Jan 11, 1949, page 1.
