Mrs. Anna Rolfs, wife of Hans Rolfs, died at her home in Remsen Wednesday, January 11, after a sickness of four years, at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 21 days. Four years ago she suffered a paralytic stroke which made her helpless and a sufferer, so that death came to her as a relief. The funeral will be Saturday, January 14th, at 1 p.m. Services at St. Paul’s church. Anna Rolfs was born in Alt-Benbeck, Schleswig, Germany, July 21, 1832, where she married Hans Rolfs in 1856. In 1886 the couple came to America to live on a farm south of Remsen. The surviving children are Mrs. Claus Borm, of Remsen; Mrs. Claus Schutt, of Windom, Minn.; Carsten Rolfs of Yankton, South Dakota, and Mrs. Thompson, of Oklahoma. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Jan. 20, 1911, page 4.
