Mrs. Albert James Thomas

LeMars, Iowa -- Mrs. Albert James Thomas, 91, of LeMars, died Friday at a LeMars care center after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Plymouth Presbyterian church in rural LeMars. The Rev. Robert Hazen will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery in Ireton, Iowa, under the direction of Mauer Funeral Home of LeMars.

The former Jessie Marion MacKinnon was born Aug. 18, 1889, in rural LeMars. She married Albert James Thomas on January 1, 1914, in Hawarden, Iowa. She graduated from Hawarden High School and taught rural schools in the Hawarden area. She then moved to a farm near LeMars. Mr. Thomas died Feb. 1, 1939.

Mrs. Thomas was past matron of the LeMars chapter of The Order of the Eastern Star. She was an active member of the LeMars chapter of Business and Professional Women. She was also a member of the Friday Study Club.

Mrs. Thomas was a member of the Plymouth Presbyterian church.

Survivors include a son, James W. of Hartford, Conn.; and three grandchildren.
