Mrs. Gertrude Austin

Mrs. Gertrude Austin, 92, 2703 10th St., died Sunday in a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Bethany Lutheran Church. The Rev. A. E. Vehling will officiate. Burial will be in Floyd Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today and there will be a prayers service at 7 p.m. in the Anderson-Perasso Funeral home.

Mrs. Austin, the former Gertrude S. Johnson, was born Sept. 6, 1889, in Holm, Sweden. She came to the United States at age 3 1/2.

She married Charles Austin Aug. 2, 1911, in Sioux City. He died here in 1955. Mrs. Austin was a member of the Sunflower Club for more than 50 years and Bethany Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a son, Albert of Des Moines; four daughters, Mrs. Frank (Helen) Conant of South Sioux City, Mrs. Carl (Marietta) Carlson of Omaha, Mrs. Charles (Mildred) Hatlestad and Mrs. Willard (Charlotte) Dilley, both of Sioux City; a brother, Gus of Geneseo, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Austin of Mason City, Iowa, and Mrs. Hazel Johnson of Cambridge, Ill.; 18 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great grandchildren and a great-great-great grandchild.
