The hand of death has inflicted great sorrow on the Aljets family. On Wednesday, July 26th, at five o’clock a.m. Edward, the little son of Mr. and Mrs. John Aljets, succumbed to convulsions. The little fellow, who was fourteen months and twenty-five days old, had been out in the orchard and partook rather freely of green apples and contracted a kind of cholera, which placed the child beyond the best medical help, and he died within twenty-four hours. The funeral will take place from Christ church tomorrow, Friday, July 28th, at two o’clock, leaving the house at twelve. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, August 1, 1911, page 2.

Note: Edward Andrew Aljets was born April 30, 1910 and died July 26, 1911 (per gravestone in the Remsen Community Cemetery).
