Donald L. Mohning, 61, route 5, Le Mars, died unexpectedly Saturday (Nov. 17, 1973) at the Orange City municipal hospital.

Services were Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran church, Remsen, with Rev. Thomas Renquist officiating.

Burial was in the Remsen city cemetery with the Moeller funeral home in charge of arrangements.

Donald Louis Albert Mohning was born Dec. 16, 1911, in Le Mars, the son of the late William and Rose Ann (Bruns) Mohning.

He married Dorothy Neuenschwander Aug. 31, 1939, at Remsen’s St. Paul’s Lutheran church.

Mr. Mohning had lived in the Remsen area most of his life except for three years 1950-1953, when he farmed at Long Prairie. He presently was farming north of Remsen.

Survivors are his wife Dorothy; a daughter, Mrs. Jack (Maxine) Shea of Marcus; two sons, William and Robert, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; five grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Carl (Nora) Kohler, of Remsen, and a brother Stanley, Le Mars. – Le Mars Daily Sentinel, Nov 20, 1973, page 2.
