(August 18, 1963 - June 1, 2011)

Rural Marcus, Iowa – Laurie A. Tuttle, 47, of rural Marcus, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa following a brief illness. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Peace Lutheran Church in Marcus, Iowa. Rev. James Gruber and Rev. Don Meyer will officiate. Burial will follow at Marcus Amherst Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2011 at Peace Lutheran Church. The family will greet friends from 5-8 p.m. with a Prayer Service scheduled at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the service on Saturday. The Earnest – Johnson Funeral Home of Marcus is assisting Laurie’s family with arrangements.

Laurie Ann Meyer was born on August 18, 1963 in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Vernon and Leola (Straub) Meyer. She was Baptized and Confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Marcus. Laurie attended school in Paullina, graduating from high school in 1981. She continued her education at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon where she earned a degree in accounting. After college, Laurie took a position with Koele Accounting in Sheldon.

On April 16, 1983 Laurie and Paul Tuttle were united in marriage at Peace Lutheran Church in Marcus. The couple made their home in Sheldon for a few years prior to moving to a farm north of Marcus. Laurie worked at Linda’s Sewing Room in Cherokee, Iowa and with the Iowa Ag Statistics Service out of her home. She also worked for several years as the church secretary at Peace Lutheran Church.

Laurie was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Marcus. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, flowers, cooking and baking, and collecting Tea Pots and Snowmen. Most of all, Laurie enjoyed spending time with her family and her extended family.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Paul of rural Marcus, Iowa; son, Brian of rural Marcus, Iowa and his special friend Rachael Tonsager of Ellsworth, Wisconsin; her parents, Vernon and Leola Meyer of Paullina, Iowa; a father-in-law and his wife Ervin “John” and Liz Tuttle of Cherokee, Iowa; her in-laws Bruce and Lori Tuttle of Orange City, Iowa, Lynette and Curt Larson of Smithland, Iowa and Dan and Jo Tuttle of Aurelia, Iowa; and her best friend and her husband Robin and Ray Corzilius of Cherokee, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; and her mother-in-law Beverly Tuttle.
