(Died January 3, 2007)Le Mars, Iowa – Kathy Williams, 54, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, January 03, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa. A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2007 at the Calvin Christian Reformed Church in Le Mars. Rev. Dale Fopma will officiate. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 7th at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home of Le Mars. The family will be present from 2-5 p.m. with a prayer service scheduled for 4:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the service on Monday.
Kathryn Teresa Williams was born on March 28, 1952 in Roanoke, Virginia, the daughter of Charles and Miriam (Sink) Madson. At the age of 9, Kathy and her family moved to Storm Lake, Iowa where she graduated from high school. She would later attend business college in Sioux City and Westmar College in Le Mars. While attending classes at Westmar she was also employed with Harker’s in Le Mars. On August 28, 1986 Kathy and William “Bill” Williams were united in marriage in Le Mars where the couple made their home. In 1989 Kathy began her career with IBP (now Tyson’s) in Dakota Dunes, South Dakota. She was currently working in the tax accounting division.
Kathy was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan. She also did a great deal of reading and collected frogs. Most important in her life was her family. Her life revolved around spending time with them and included raising two of her granddaughters.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Bill Williams of Le Mars; two sons John Bonnema of Normal, IL and Jason Bonnema and his wife Jenny of Le Mars; two step-sons Mike Williams and his fiancé Mary of Tampa, FL and Mark Williams and his wife Rhonda of Le Mars; grandchildren Heather and her husband Eric, Ashley, Troy, Tyler, Kristen, Colin, Kimberly, Dylan and Kayle; a great-grandson Ethan; a brother Jim Madson and his wife Darne of San Leandro, CA, a sister Pat Eakin and her special friend Dean Spangler of Roanoke, VA, a brother Mike Madson and his wife Carla of Urbandale, IA; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Joellen Bonnema in 1984; and a special aunt Bessie S. Sanderson.
