Postmaster of Merrill Dies at 64
Merrill, Iowa:

Ronald R. Thompson, 64, postmaster at Merrill, died Thursday in a Sioux City hospital of a long illness.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the Merrill Civic Center. The Rev. E.J. Berreph, pastor of the Merrill United Methodist Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery under direction of the Luken-Johnson Funeral Home at LeMars.

The Oleson-Halweg American Legion Post will conduct military rites at the cemetery.

Mr. Thompson was born Nov. 16, 1910, at Merrill. He was graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1937. He became postmaster at Merrill in 1953.
He was a veteran of World War II, and a member of the Oleson-Halweg American Legion Post at Merrill. He was a member of the National Association of Postmasters, the National League of Postmasters, the Merrill United Methodist Church and the Theta Chi Fraternity at the University of Nebraska.

Survivors include a brother, John, of Charleston, S.C.; and a sister, Miss Gwen Thompson of Merrill.
