ARTHUR KALLSEN, 85, FUNERAL RITES SET SATURDAY AFTERNOON
Arthur Kallsen, 85, died Wednesday at Floyd Valley hospital 'after several months of illness.
Mr. Kallsen was born June 3, 1882, at Keystone, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Kallsen. He came to Plymouth county as a young boy when the family settled near Akron. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Preston township Lutheran church, April 3, 1898.
Arthur Kallsen and Clara Oloff were married Feb. 24, 1904 To this union three children were born, all of whom survive. They resided on a farm near Craig until 1943 when they retired to Le Mars. Mr. Kallsen was a longtime Insurance agent for German Mutual Insurance Co.
Mrs. Clara Kallsen died in 1947. Mr. Kallsen later married Mrs. Lena Bishton. She preceded him in death in 1958.
Mr. Kallsen was a charter member of St. John Lutheran church at Craig. At the time of his death, he was a member of St. John Lutheran church in Le Mars.
Funeral services will be held Saturday with the time changed to 2:30 p.m. at St. John church with Rev. L. L. Belk and Arnold Imbrock officiating. Burial will be in Craig Lutheran cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home. A prayer service will be held Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Kallsen's survivors are a daughter, Edna; two sons, Eldon and Lloyd, and three, grandchildren, all of Le Mars.
He also is survived by two step-children, Mrs. Glenn Kirchoff of Marcus and Arthur Bishton of Nutley, N. J.; five sisters and one brother, Mrs. Clara Miller, Mrs. Delia Kallsen, Mrs. Lincoln Miller, Mrs. Lillian Tapper, Mrs. Robert Arnsdorff and Jessie Kallsen.
Mr. Kallsen was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
