MARV SINGER FUNERAL RITES WEDNESDAY

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic church for Marvin Singer, 52, longtime LeMars businessman.

Rev. John Turza will officiate and burial will be in Calvary cemetery under direction of the Luken-Johnson funeral home. Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Pall bearers will be George Vander Tuig, Paul Olson, Virgil Jonas, William Heissel, Jim Kennedy, and Jim Roepke.

Mr. Singer died Monday morning (Oct. 16, 1972) at Sioux City St. Joseph Mercy hospital after an illness of several months. He had been in the intensive care unit there since July 19 and previous to that was a patient at Floyd Valley hospital, LeMars. Mr. Singer suffered from what was diagnosed as French polio.

The LeMars man became associated with the Luken Furniture Store here in 1948 and at the time of his death was part owner and manager.

He was born Oct. 7, 1920, at Merrill, the son of the late Nick and Lucille (Tucker) Singer. He and Marie Luken were married May 10, 1948, in LeMars. Mr. Singer had resided at Merrill until his marriage after which he lived in LeMars.

He was a navy veteran of world war 2 and a member of the fraternal order of Eagles and Wasmer Post 241, American Legion.

Mr. Singer was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors are his wife, Marie of LeMars; his mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Luken of LeMars; a brother, Archie of Merrill and one niece, Mrs. Barbara Wright of Ankeny.
