Cyril “Butch” McKnight, 66, of Akron, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Friday, May 6, 2011 at the Akron Care Center in Akron.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Akron, Iowa. Pastor Mike Avery will officiate. The body has been cremated. Visitation with the family present will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the church. The Carlsen Funeral Home – Schroeder Chapel in Akron, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.

Cyril A. McKnight was born Nov. 22, 1944, in Sioux
City, the son of Alvin and Lillian (Peterson) McKnight. He
was raised and attended school in Sioux City. Following
his schooling, Butch worked for various businesses in the
Sioux City area.

Butch was united in marriage to Debra Schafer on Oct.
11, 1989, in Elk Point, SD. They continued to make their
home in Sioux City. In January of 2010, they moved to
Akron. Cyril had retired to due to his health.

Through the years Butch enjoyed fishing and camping.
He also enjoyed “chatting” on CB radios. He will be greatly
missed.

Survivors include his wife, Debra of Akron; his son:
Alvin of Akron; four sisters: Karen of Sioux City, Shirley
of Sioux City, Toni of Sioux City, and Aloha of Sioux City;
and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister:
Johanna; and a stillborn son: Cyril Alvin Lewis McKnight.
