Death of a Pioneer Resident.
A. W. Parsons of Chatsworth died at his home on Monday at the age of sixty five years. He was widely known in Plymouth County and the northwest having lived in this locality for thirty years being one of the pioneers. He was greatly respected in the community in which he lived for so long a time for his good qualities of heart and head. Mr. Parsons came to Plymouth county in 1871 and homesteaded in Grant township and remained a resident of this county until a few years ago when he engaged in business in Ireton. At one time he was engaged in the newspaper
business at Akron and later at Chatsworth. He was an old soldier and served in the civil war as a member of the Fourth Illinois cavalry. [Civil War Record says 3rd Illinois Cavalry.]He was prominent in Masonic circles, having been one of the first members of Giblem lodge in this city. He was always active in public affairs and for a number of years in the latter part of the seventies was a member of the board of supervisors. He was nominated by the republicans in 1894 for representative but on account of his health declined the honor.

He always devoted his energies and powers to the good of the community in which he lived and was unselfish to a degree.

The funeral was held yesterday at Chatsworth and the remains brought to this city for interment. On the arrival of the funeral cortege at this place the Masons took charge of t he
remains and conducted the services at the grave
