Died at Cherokee, Iowa, March 20, 1907. John W. Hieke, son of Anton and Paulina Hieke, of pulmonary tuberculosis. He was born July 12, 1871, in Stanton Township, Plymouth County, Iowa, and was aged thirty-five years, eight months and eighteen days.

His father preceded him to the future world.

He leaves a sorrowing mother, two brothers and four sisters to mourn his loss. God comfort the bereaved.

The funeral was conducted at the United Evangelical Church by the writer and Rev. Hertzberg of the Evangelical association preached in the German language, on Saturday, March 26. Deceased was buried in the Melbourne Cemetery. Peace to his ashes.
