Mrs. Mary J. McCorkell Is
Summoned at Her Home
Here Sunday Noon

Mrs. Mary J. McCorkell. one of the early day residents of northwestern Plymouth county, passed away at her home in this city at about noon Sunday, September 21,1930, at the advanccd age of nearly 87 years. She had been gradually failing for some time as the result of infirmities of age.

Mary Jane Moore was born November 20, 1843 in Galena, Illinois. She came to Iowa with her parents when a small child. She was united in marriage with Joseph McCorkell [September 25, 1856] and they made their home in Jones county, Iowa for a few years, later moving to Des Moines, Iowa. They left there home ther and came to Plymouth county in 1884, taking a homsesteaded in Portland township when it was very sparsely settled. They resided there until thirty years ago, when they retired from active farming and moved to Akron to make their home. Her husband preceded her in death I 1909, and one son Robert R. McCorkell, died a few years ago at his home in Medical Lake, Wash. She is survived by the following children, Eliot, Howard. Joseph L. and Elizabeth McCorkell, of Akron, la.; Walter L. McCorkell, of Sioux City, Ia., and Mrs. Lutie Hyink, of LeMars, Ia.; also by 19 grandchildren and 19 greatgrandchildren. Mrs. McCorkell was a
kind and devoted wife and mother and the many friends of the family in this vicinity extend sympathy in their bereavement.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home, conducted
by Wilson Gow, pastor of ,the M. E. church. Interment was beside her husband in Riverside cemetery.
