SIOUX CITY -- Margaret Carolyn Gaul, 70, of Sioux City passed away on Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Zirpel officiating. Visitation will be 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Margaret was born March 3, 1940, in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Cyril and Audrey (Leesley) Brownmiller. She was raised and attended school in Marcus, Iowa, graduating from Marcus High School. Margaret continued her education at the Boulder School of Beauty. She worked as a beautician for more than 40 years. When she was 60, she became a massage therapist, where she could use her warm healing hands and magic fingers.
Margaret married Richard Scott on June 14, 1959. She later married Douglas Gaul in 1973 at Craig, Iowa. Together they made their home in Le Mars, until moving to Detroit Lakes, Minn., in 1985. They moved to Sioux City in 1988. Doug died in July of 2009.
Margaret appreciated her Senior Companion. She loved spending time with her family, and she also enjoyed fishing and bowling.
Survivors include two daughters, Tammi Hill and Ronnie Allmendinger of Longmont, Colo., and Irena Markey of Lakewood, Colo.; a son, Alan Scott and Tammy Palmer of Correctionville, Iowa; a stepson, Steve and Roxanne Gaul of Chicago, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Gwen and Mike Wilkerson of Wapello, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jeannie and Merle Wilken of Craig, Iowa, and Kathy and Eldon Bray of Le Mars; two brothers, Danny and LaVonne Brownmiller and Timothy and Pam Brownmiller, all of Le Mars; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Brownmiller of Le Mars.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Doug; brother, James Brownmiller; and a nephew, Scott Wilken.
