NOTE: His first name is actually Edgar as stated on his gravestone but he was obviously called by his middle name Allen.

Allen Schindel

Allen Schindel, 85, Merrill, died Monday at a Sioux City hospital. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Heaton-Westcott funeral home, Sioux City, with Rev. Dale W. Church, pastor of the Melbourne United Methodist Church, rural Merrill, officiating. Burial will be in Melbourne Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dale Riediger, Wesley Trometer, Evan Bollmeyer, Robert Dennler, Dwight Spies and Lee Taylor.

He was born Jan. 19,1885, in Plymouth County. Me farmed in Plymouth County before retiring in 1957. He married Tessie Zimmerman Dec. 25, 1907, in Plymouth County. She died in 1944. He was a member of the Melbourne United Methodist church and the Odd fellows Lodge.

Survivors are two sons, Ronald and George, both of Merrill; two sisters, Mrs. O. W. Larson of Odebolt and Mrs. George Meehan of Palo Alto, Calif.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
