Orange City, Iowa – Roger L. Schulz, 51, of Orange City, formerly of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at his home following a brief illness. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Rev. Gary Landsness of St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars will officiate. Burial will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, rural Ireton, Iowa at a later date. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 14, 2011 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service scheduled at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Roger Lester Schulz was born on July 8, 1959 in Hawarden, Iowa, the son of Melvin and Virginia (Sanow) Schulz. He received his education at Maurice-Orange City and Le Mars Community Schools. Following school, Roger went to work for Jack Killeas as a farm hand in the Le Mars area. For the last 16 years he worked as a mechanic at Eason’s Shop in Orange City. Roger also operated a lawn and snow removal service.

In his spare time Roger enjoyed working on cars and home remodeling. He liked riding his motorcycle, grilling and BBQ and watching movies. Roger had a big heart and was always helping others with their projects.

He will be lovingly remembered by two sisters Margaret (Dan) Huls and Nancy Schulz both of Le Mars, IA; three brothers, Rodney (Linda) Schulz of Sioux City, IA, Douglas (Judy) Schulz and Thomas (Maria) Schulz both of Le Mars, IA; several nieces and nephews; two aunts, Joyce Gotto of Glendora, CA and Phyllis Sanow of Le Mars, IA; and an uncle Herman (Marlene) Schulz of Le Mars, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and an infant sister Kim.
