Marcella Beckmann, 92, of Le Mars passed away Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Happy Siesta Nursing Home in Remsen, Iowa.

Graveside Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars, Iowa. Reverend Tim Geitz of Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars, Iowa will officiate. Visitation with the family present will be after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2011, with a Prayer service at 7:00 p.m., all at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars, Iowa.

Marcella Myers was born May 4, 1918 in Ireton, Iowa, to Justin and Daisy (Jones) Myers. Marcella was raised in Ireton, Iowa. Her father passed away unexpectedly in 1922 from a sudden illness. Her mother married Floyd Bartlett in 1927. In 1934, the family moved to rural Le Mars. Marcella attended school in Le Mars and graduated from Central High School in 1935.

Marcella was united in marriage to Harvey Borchers in January of 1937. They spent nine months in California and then returned to Le Mars because of the death of Harvey’s father. They resided in rural Le Mars until Harvey’s death from a corn picker accident. Marcella and her three sons moved into Le Mars where she worked as a bookkeeper for Iowa Public Service and then as a secretary at the Plymouth County Engineer’s Office.

In 1962, she married William “Bill” Beckmann. In November of 1967, they moved to Cape Coral, Florida where they resided until 1997 until moving back to Le Mars. Bill passed away in February of 1998. Recently, Marcella had resided at Happy Siesta Nursing Home in Remsen

Survivors include her son: Clayton (Patty) Borchers of Sun City West, AZ; a daughter in law: Dianne Borchers of Rock Valley, IA; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; a sister: Rouletta (Hap) Halter of Le Mars, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands: Harvey Borchers and Bill Beckmann; a sister: Cleone Vlotho of Ireton, IA; an infant son: Terry Lee Borchers; two sons: Greg Borchers and Doug Borchers; and three grandsons: Tony Borchers, Jeff Borchers, and Chad Borchers.
