John Burnett died at his home here Thursday, Nov. 16,1896, of paralysis, after an illness of four months. During most of the time he has been helpless and unable to utter a sound.

He was born in Ohio October 15, 1831, and was therefore 65 years, 1 month and 11 days of age at the time of his death. He was married in Sioux City to Miss Lizzie Hagle June 5, 1868, to Whom have been born nine children, seven who survive him, two boys dying in childhood

Mr. Burnett homesteaded his farm here and has lived on it for 27 years and all the children but one were born here.

He leaves a devoted wife who has stood almost constantly at his bedside since his illness, seven children and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Pryor who lives in Lancaster, Wisconsin. Two of the children a remarried, Mrs. Stinton, who lives at Pleasant Valley, and Mrs. Chas. Weuham of this place. Mr. Burnett has been a member of the TJ. The funeral was held from t he U. B. church at Pleasant Valley at l o'clock Saturday, conducted by Rev. Mr. Astleford and the remains laid to rest beside his two, children in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery to await the Judgment morn. Although it was a dreadful cold day about forty sympathizing friends and neighbors followed the remains.
