DEATH COMES TO HUGO M. KANAGO
Well Known Le Mars Man Lived In County Seventy-eight YearsHugo Morris Kanago, a former well known, resident of western Plymouth County and Akron, passed away Tuesday evening, January 21, 1947, in Le Mars, Iowa, at the age of 78 years and 5 months.
Born in Stockholm, Sweden, September 17, 1868, he came to the United States with his parents, Charles and. Carrie Kanago, when he was but three weeks of age. The family settled in Winona, Minnesota, in the fall of 1868 In the fall of 1869 they moved to Plymouth County and homesteaded in Johnson Township. He was married in the year 1897 to Mary Kenaston, of Akron, Iowa, Two sons were born to this union, Melvin. R. Kanago, of Le Mars, and Percy L. Kanago, of Omaha.
He was engaged in farming and carpentry until the winter of 1917, when the family moved to Merrill, Iowa, A year later the family moved to Le Mars where he continued carpentering until ill health forced him to retire.
His parents, two sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; two sons. Melvin and Percy Kanago, and four grandchildren.
A number of Akron relatives attended the funeral services at a funeral home in Le Mars at 2:00 p. m. last Friday, and the interment in Pleasant Valley Cemetery at Adaville.
