MRS. HELENA SCHUETTE Dies At Home in Craig

Helena Sophie Schuette (nee Eilers), daughter of Gerhard Eilers and his wife, Helena (nee Anton), was born March 23, 1881, at Mt. Olive, Illinois. She was baptized on April 24, 1881, in the Evangelical Lutheran church at Mt. Olive by Rev. Weisbrett.

At the age of one year she moved with her parents to Ulm, Arkansas. On May 17, 1896, she was confirmed in the Zion Lutheran church of Ulm by Rev. J. H. Hartenberg.

In the year 1903 she came to Iowa and settled at Ireton. On December 6, 1906, she was united marriage with Edward A. Schuette at Ireton by Rev. Huge Grim. To this union six children were born, five daughters and one son.

Following their marriage they lived on a farm northwest ofIreton for several years. In 1913 they moved to Craig, which has been their home since, with the exception of three years when they resided on a farm near Thomas, S.D.

Mrs. Schuette was a member of St. John's Lutheran church and for 15 years assisted her husband with the janitorial duties of the church. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid.

On Wednesday evening, November 29, she became seriously ill. She passed way at 10 o'clock the same evening. She had attained the age of 80 years, 8 months and 6 days.

Those who. mourn her passing include: Her husband, Edward; one son, Alvin, of Akron; one daughter, Berniece (Mrs. Gerd Ludwigs) of Lancaster, California; two granddaughters, Mrs. Betty Kelly of Lancaster, California and Mrs. Joyce Hagar of Le Mars; one great grandchild; also two sisters; Mrs. Anna Schuette of Craig and Mrs. Minnie Bultman of Hawarden; four brothers, Henry Eilers of Craig; John Eilers of Le Mars; William Eilers of Hawarden and Louis Eilers of Craig.

Preceding her in death were her parents, one daughter, Mrs. Emilie Pageler and three infant daughters; one sister, Lizzie Eilers and two brothers, Fred and Dick Eilers.
