DEATH CLAIMS OLD RESIDENT

MRS. HARM LUBBEN CAME TO PLYMOUTH COUNTY IN THE EARLY EIGHTIES

Mrs. Harm Lubben, a long time resident of Plymouth county, died at her home, 127 Third Avenue Thursday afternoon, death being due to heart trouble following a weakened condition caused by an attack of influenza some time ago.

Mrs. Lubben was 66 years of age was born in Ost Friesland, Germany, on February 6, 1859, her maiden name being Marie Johanna Ahlfs. She grew to young womanhood in her native place and was married there to Harm Lubben. Following their marriage they immigrated to America, and on their arrival settled at Pekin, Illinois, where they remained for a short time and then came to Plymouth county where they made their home. They worked on farms and soon secured enough to buy land and farmed with success in Grant township and acquired a comfortable fortune. They retired from farming and bought a home in Le Mars. Mr. Lubben died in 1919. Mrs. Lubben is survived by her children, who are John, Henry and Gerd Lubben, Mrs. A . B. Doering. Mrs. Siebold Harms and Mrs. Ulrich Koch, all living in this vicinity. She also leaves her brothers, Arnold, John and Dick Ahlfs and sisters , Mrs. George Reelfs, of Ravinia, S. D.

Mrs. Lubben was a member of St. Lutheran church and of the Ladies Aid society and was active in the work. She was a devoted wife and mother and was held in high esteem by all who knew her.

The funeral was held Monday afternoon at St. John's Lutheran church. Rev. J. J. Vollmar officiating and the interment made inn the city cemetery.
