E.V. Heacock, 83, Kingsley, longtime area educator, died Sunday (Nov. 2,1986) in a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Kingsley United Methodist Church. Rev. Lester Hesseltine will officiate. Burial will be in the Kingsley Cemetery with graveside services conducted by Rutland Masonic Lodge 607 AF&AM. Visitation will be after noon Tuesday in Dickison-Michaelson Funeral Home in Kingsley.

Mr. Heacock was born May 28,1903, in Quorn to James S. and Minnie Graves Heacock. He married Edna Woods Aug. 18,1926, at Sioux City. He graduated from Morningside College in 1925 and received his master of arts degree from the University of Iowa in 1940.

He was an educator for more than 50 years in Plymouth and Woodbury Counties. He had been superintendent at Danbury, Kingsley-Pierson and Westwood Community school districts. He supervised the reorganizing and combining of Hornick-Holly Springs, Salix, Sloan, and Smithland school districts into the Westwood School District.

Mr. Heacock was a member of the Kingsley United Methodist Church, National Educational Association, Iowa State Educaors Association, Kingsley Historical Society and Area on Aging SIMPCO, and was a member and past master of Rutland Masonic Lodge 607 AF&AM. He was honored in 1986 for contributions to the Maple- Valley Conference.

Survivors are his wife; a son, James of Circleville, Ohio; a daughter, Patricia O'Leary-Zaleta of Sioux City; a brother, James of Tucson, Ariz.; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials have been established in his name with Kingsley United Methodist Church and Kingsley Historical Society.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
