John V. Swanberg, 93, of Kingsley, died Wednesday (May 7, 1986) in a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Kingsley with Rev. Leola Allen officiating. Burial will be in the Kingsley Cemetery. Friends may call after noon Friday. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 tonight at the Dickison-Michaelson Funeral Home.
John V. Swanberg was born Nov. 17, 1892 in Kingsley to Gus and Emma Oleson Swanberg. He farmed west of Kingsley for 44 years before retiring in 1957. He married Jeanette Seglem on Jan. 9,1917 in Sioux City. She died in 1973. He has been a resident of Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Kingsley since 1980. Mr. Swanberg was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ and the Farm Bureau.
Survivors include a son, John R. (Jack) of Kingsley; one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Darleen) Miller of Lincoln, Neb.; three sisters, Mrs. Phyllis Coffee of Sergeant Bluff, Mrs. Esther Barkley of Hot Springs, S.D., and Mrs. Margurite Oleson of California; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother and two sisters.
