Relatives and friends attended funeral services for Walter Lentz, 77, Faribault, Minn., at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault.

Rev. Kevin Clinton officiated and burial was in Faribault Calvary Cemetery. A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Parker-Kohl Funeral Home.

Mr. Lentz, a Plymouth County native, died Sept. 9, 1987, at the Methodist Hospital at Rochester, Minn., after a long illness. His home was at 510 Northwest 2nd St., Faribault, Minn., 55021.

He was born Oct. 4, 1909, in Stanton Township, Plymouth County near Merrill to Charles and Caroline Rumbolz Lentz. He and Kathleen Kelley of Le Mars were married Oct. 17, 1938, at Fort Dodge.

He was an insurance salesman for Federated Insurance Co. of Owatonna for 26 years before retiring in 1973. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion and the Elks Club of Faribault.

Survivors are his wife, Kathleen of Faribault; eight children, Mrs. Patrick (Ann) Biernacki of San Francisco; Susan Brightheart, Suttons Bay, Mich.; Charles Lentz, Minneapolis; William Lentz, Southfield, Mich.; Walter Lentz, Minneapolis; Mary Lentz, Seattle; Christopher Lentz, Eden Prairie, Minn.; Thomas Lentz of St. Paul; nine grandchildren; a brother, Elmer Lentz, Le Mars; two sisters, Mrs. Emil (Minnie) Alm of Denver and Mrs. Clarence (Gladys) Turner of Nampa, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents.
