LAST RITES HELD SATURDAY FOR CHARLIE GREEN
Had Been Resident Of This Vicinity Most Of His Life
The final summons came to a widely known and highly respected resident of the community, Charlie E. Green, Tuesday, January 3, at his home hare, after a brief illness, aged 80 years, 9 months and 2 days.
Charlie Edward Green was born April 1, 1886, at Nodaway, Iowa. He came to Westfield, Iowa, in 1902 and farmed near there a number of years. On January 1, 1914, he was united in marriage with Elva M. Camon at Des Moines, Iowa.
Mr. Green received a degree from the Veterinary Science Association of London, Canada after completing a correspondence course in 1909. He practiced veterinary medicine and also did auctioneering in the Westfield and Akron vicinity for many years
before retiring five years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Green moved here from Westfield couple of years ago.The many friends of Col. Charles as he was familiarly teamed by a host of acquaintances for his genial personality and kindly nature extend sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
Survivors are the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Blanche Harris, of Ellensburg, Wash.; a sister, Mrs. Lizzie Burns of Villisca, Iowa, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning at the First Church of Christ, Pastor Clarence N. Lautt officiating. Mrs. Frances Mackey was soloist and Miss Patricia Larsen was pianist.
Casket bearers were Mike Welc, Virgil Ross, John Swoyer, Donald Boetger, Elden Swoyer and Marion Morehead. Interment was in the Adaville Cemetery.
Relatives from a distance in attendance at the funeral of Charlie E. Green were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Harris and daughter, Mrs. Mary Burton, of Ellenburg, Wash. Mrs. Harris is his daughter.
