John Kitterman, of Kingsley, was drowned Saturday while working at a bridge. Mr. Evans and another man were in the party and the three men were taking a raft of timbers down stream to build or repair a bridge. The raft struck a wire and Kitterman was thrown off into the stream. Mr. Evans tried hard to save his life, but after being nearly drowned by the man's drowning clutches, he was obliged to give it up. The body was recovered.

Mr. Kitterman was poor and leaves a wife and five children. The kind hearted citizens of Kingsley raised about $200 to assist the family.
