MRS. IRA HOFFMAN CALLED BY DEATH LAST SATURDAY
Rites Held Tuesday For Lifelong Union County Resident
Mrs. Ira Hoffman, 58, of Elk Point, a resident of Union county, S.D., all her life, passed away Saturday night at the Akron Hospital, after an extended illness.
Louise Vertina Strand was born May 16, 1905, in Union county, where she grew to womanhood and married Ira Hoffman on July 4, 1923, at Elk Point. They farmed west of Akron until retiring and becoming residents of Elk Point in October, 1963.
Survivors include the widower; a daughter, Mrs. Arlene Radtke of Akron; four sons, Harry and Jerry, both of Akron, Elmer of Sioux City and Ronald of Elk Point; a sister, Mrs. Ida Rosenbaum of Elk Point; a brother, Leonard Strand of Sioux City and 10 grandchildren
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Elk Point, Rev. Kerrmit Rye officiating. Mrs. Doyle Robbins, soloist, and Mrs. Ronald Lanning, neoempanist. Casket bearers were Jerry Strand, Cecil Horton, Russell and Richard Rosenbaum, Ray Minor and Harlan Dewey. Interment in Akron Riverside Cemetery.
