Note: Some newspapers spell the last name Hoffman but for this family it is actually spelled Hoffmann

DEATH O F M. HOFFMANN

Had Been a Resident of Le Mars For Past Seventeen Years

Mathias Hoffmann, a resident or Plymouth county for the past twenty-five years, died at his home, 810 Madison Street, on Thursday afternoon after an illness lasting a week. Heart trouble was the cause of his demise.

Mathias Hoffmann was a native of the Grand Duchy of Luxemburg and was born at Shuttringen on November 20, 1837, and was seventy-seven years, four months and eleven days old at the time of his death . He came to America and settled on a farm near Remsen twenty-four years ago where he lived for seven years. At that time he, and his wife retired and came to Le Mars to make their home.

Mr. Hoffmann leaves to mourn his death his wife, four sons and one daughter. They are Louis and Victor Hoffmann, of Brunswick, Neb., Edward Hoffmann, of Vancouver , B.C., and Frank Hoffmann, living on a farm seven miles south of Le Mars, and Mrs. Paul. Brauch, of this city.

The funeral was held yesterday morning at St. Joseph's Church in this city.

Mr. Hoffmann was a good citizen and neighbor and was highly regarded in the community.
