She was united in marriage to Kenneth Avery Small on March 3, 1942 in Pender, Nebraska. Shortly after their marriage, she moved with Ken to Texas while he was serving in the military. Following his discharge, they returned to the Akron area and began raising their family. She enjoyed being a homemaker and the time with the children. In 1964, she went to work for First National Bank in Akron. In March of 1986, she retired after 22 years of service. Following their retirement, Evelyn and Ken enjoyed their time on their acreage east of Akron, along with the additional opportunities to visit with family and friends. In March of 2007, she became a resident of Countryside Senior Living in Sioux City. She and Ken resided there together until he passed away August 10, 2009.
