Dwight John Toben, 33, of Akron, was killed and two other men were injured in a car-truck accident early Saturday morning in Sioux City.
Toben's auto was northbound in the 1300 block of Lewis Boulevard when it was in a near head-on collision with a semi-trailer truck driven by Rodney Lee McLaih, 24, Sioux City. He was traveling south. Dr. Thomas L. Coriden, Woodbury County medical examiner, said death was caused by a skull fracture. Hugh Wall, 59, Des Moines, a passenger in the car, suffered major head injuries was listed in critical condition Monday night at St. Vincent hospital. McClain was issued summons for OMVI, speeding and driving left of center of a roadway.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 1 in Immanuel Lutheran church in Akron. The Rev. David Roy officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Schroeder Funeral Home.
Mr. Toben was born Dec. 30, 1942, in Westfield, and he attended Westfield schools.
Survivors include a daughter, Robin, Le Mars; a son Rodney, Le Mars; his parents Mr. and Mrs. John Toben of Akron; one sister, Mrs. Wilbur Hasenbank, of Westfield, and two brothers, Darrell and Martin L. of Westfield.
Pallbearers were David Hasenbank, Marvin Toben, Johnny Toben, Pat Toben, Ronnie Hughes, Gene Toben and Joe Caskey.
