Marian Weisser, 77, of rural Alcester, South Dakota, passed away Friday, June 8, 2007 at Hillcrest Health Care in Hawarden, Iowa.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2007 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron, Iowa. Neil Peck will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitations will be after 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2007, with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., all at the church in Akron. Visitation will resume 1 hour prior to the services on Monday at the church. The Carlsen Funeral Home – Schroeder Chapel in Akron is in charge of arrangements.
Marian Louise Becker was born June 23, 1929 on the family farm near Sherburn, Minnesota, the daughter of LeRoy and Florence (Swift) Becker. She attended country school near Sherburn and later graduated from Sherburn High School. She was united in marriage to Milton H. Weisser on January 10, 1951 on her family’s farm in Minnesota. The couple farmed near Estherville, MN, Jackson, MN, Alpha, MN, and Canton, SD, before settling on a farm near Alcester in 1961. Marian was a homemaker for her family. Milton passed away in 1995.
Marian loved gardening and watching birds. She also enjoyed quilting and watching sports on television, especially those involving the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her 3 children: Suzanne Tucker of Akron, IA, Rhonda Persinger of Ireton, IA, and Randy Weisser and his wife Sharon of Alcester, SD; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Ione Cross and her husband Gene of Sherburn, MN, and Eileen Paulson and her husband Terry of Minnetonka, MN; 1 brother: Darrell Becker and his wife Dee of Alpha, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milton; a brother: Alvin Becker; a son: Keith Weisser; and a daughter in infancy, Louise Weisser.
