Last Friday Alex Beaulieu, who has been suffering from diabetes mellitus for the past three months gave up the struggle for life and went up to his home beyond where there is eternal rest. During the last hours of his illness he stated he had suffered enough and was ready to go.
About two months ago Mr. Beaulieu was taken to a hospital in Sioux City. After staying there for some time he seemed apparently to be getting along well and came home and was able to be about on the street, when two weeks ago he suffered another attack which proved to be fatal. Physicians and trained nurses worked diligently with their suffering patient but it was of no avail.
Mr. Beaulieu was born in Canada and lived there a short time with his parents and when a young boy came to this country where he has since resided spending most of his time on a farm in Liberty Township. Two years ago he gave up farming and moved to town where he might enjoy the fruits of his hard labor.
He was united in marriage to Miss Josephine Juzek, when about 25 years of age. To this union nine children were born. All were at his bedside except William who died in infancy. The children are; Frank, Ed, George, Henry, Louie; and Elizabeth; the only, daughter, who resides at home with the grief stricken wife and mother.
The funeral services were held Sunday with a brief service at Merrill and another service at Ellendale, where the remains were laid to rest. Rev. Father Connolly officiating.
Mr. Beaulieu was a highly respected citizen, and his untimely death has come as a great shock to many warm friends. He was 64 years, 9 months and eight days old. Those who mourn have the sympathy of the community.
