Mrs. Emma Boetger Had Lived In Union County And Akron Many Years

Death claimed another long-time and esteemed resident of this vicinity on Tuesday of last week, November 21, at 9 a. m., when Mrs. Emma Marie Boetger was called to her reward at her home in this city, after an extended illness, at the age of 72 years, months and 23 clays.

Emma Anderson was born in Germany, and at the age of six came to America with her parents, who settled in Union county, S. D., where she grew to young womanhood, and on April 19, 1890, was united in marriage with Henry F, Boetger. To their union were born five sons and four daughters. They farmed northwest of Akron, in Union county, for many years, until retired and moved to Akron twelve years ago to spend the remainder of their lives.

Mrs. Boetger was preceded in death by her husband; Henry, who died suddenly from a heart attack last Christmas evening; by a son in infancy and by a daughter, Emma Irene, at the age of six years.

Left to mourn her departure are four sons, Edward, Ernest and Leander, of Akron, and Fred, of Sioux City, Iowa; three daughters, Mrs. Freda Sorenson and Mrs. Alvina Osterbuhr, of Elk Point, S. D., and Mrs. Mary Smith, of Sioux City; also by 23 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Boetger was a kind and devoted wife and mother and a good neighbor. She will be missed by many friends, who extend sympathy to the bereaved relatives.

Funeral services were held here in Immanuel Lutheran church Friday at 1:30 p. m., conducted by Pastor Leslie Olson, of Union Creek Lutheran Church, with many relatives and friends in attendance; Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.
