Mary E. Boetger

Mary E. Boetger, 89, Akron, died Thursday (May 19, 1988) in the Akron Convalescent Care Center after a long illness.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Church of Christ in Akron. Rev. Elmer Hodge officiated. Tim Kelley, soloist, sang "How Great Thou Art" and "In The Garden", accompanied by Carol Harris, organist. Burial was in Riverside cemetery in Akron under direction of the Schroeder Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Don Boetger, Arden Boetger, Darcy Fletcher, Wayne Buum and Jerold Dykstra.

Mrs. Boetger, the former Mary Beeler, was born March 21, 1899 to Wallace and Bertha Hamilton Beeler. She married Earnest Boetger, June 14, 1916 in Elk Point. The couple farmed for many years near Westfield, and then moved to Richland, S.D. before moving to Akron in 1934. She worked at the Akron Hospital for many years. Mr. Boetger died in 1977.

Survivors include three sons, Parnell "Charlie" and Darrell, both of Akron, and Clifford of Le Mars; a daughter, Mrs. Daryl (Elaine) McCormick of Downey, Calif.; two half-brothers, Eldon Beeler of Beresford, and George Beeler of Alcester; two half-sisters, Mrs. Roy Skinner of Sergeant Bluff, and Mrs. Harold Westerman of Harrold, S.D.; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earnest; two sons, Orville and Raymond; two great-granddaughters, Stacy Boetger and Misty Jo Hanna.
