LE MARS, Iowa - Benjamin Paul "Ben" Buhman, 16, of Le Mars died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital following a swimming accident.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A., in Le Mars, with the Rev. Gary Landsness officiating. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Grant Township, rural Le Mars. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Ben was born June 6, 1984, the son of Mark and Mary (Teeter) Buhman. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

He attended school in Le Mars and would have been a sophomore at Le Mars Community High School. He participated in Le Mars Little League baseball, playing all the way to freshman baseball at Le Mars Community. He also participated in wrestling, football, golf and concert choir. He enjoyed listening to music.

Survivors include his parents; a brother, Thurman John "T.J." of Le Mars; paternal grandmother, Alice Buhman of Le Mars; maternal grandparents, Shirley Teeter of Eldon, Iowa, and Lloyd Teeter of Bethany, Mo.; and aunts, uncles and cousins.He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Marvin Buhman.

Pallbearers will be Chris Helmrichs, Loran Weiler, Ty Luneburg, Phil Kramer, Phil Jeneary, Tyler Arens, Dustin DeKok and Tim Sitzmann.
